Our Story From Our Founder

“My name is Natalie Berg, and the story of Fabric Land began back in 1971 at a market stall in Maidenhead. My parents already sold fabric in both the Maidenhead and Reading markets, so when a lady gave up her pitch, I decided to take it over and sell haberdashery. I worked hard on that market for 15 wonderful years before local trade eventually declined and I gave it up.”

“A year later, I moved from Wanstead, London E.11, down to Bournemouth, where we are still situated today. In 1985, I opened a tiny shop selling fabric and haberdashery in a new centre on Bournemouth High Street. The shop was incredibly successful, so much so that my husband decided to join me, and he masterfully took my little business to what it is today.”

“Later on, my daughter joined the team, and we are now incredibly proud to have our third generation of family working for Fabric Land. We are a real family business through and through, and our founding mission remains exactly the same as it was on day one: providing an unbeatable variety of beautiful fabrics at prices that keep creativity affordable for everyone.”
