Iron-on motifs feature a heat-activated adhesive backing that bonds to fabric when pressed with a hot domestic iron, making application fast and needle-free. Sew-on motifs do not have adhesive backing and are stitched directly onto the fabric, providing a permanent bond that is ideal for heavily washed garments, stretch fabrics, or textured materials like knitted jumpers and leather.

Set your iron to a dry, medium-high heat (matching your garment’s fabric care setting). Place the patch in position, cover it with a thin pressing cloth or baking parchment to protect the motif design, and press down firmly with the iron for 20–30 seconds without moving it around. Turn the garment inside out and press from the reverse side for another 15–20 seconds to ensure the glue penetrates the fabric completely. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes before wearing.

While many sequin and diamante motifs can withstand gentle machine washing, we strongly recommend turning the garment inside out before laundering to protect the delicate embellishments from catching on the washing machine drum. Wash on a gentle, cool cycle (30°C) or hand wash, and always air dry rather than tumble dry to prevent heat from weakening the sequin threads or glue.
