To ensure your nursery curtains block out intrusive daylight for essential daytime naps, you should always line your decorative face fabric with a premium three-pass blackout lining. This specialised technical backing seals the weave entirely, preventing light leakage. For maximum sleep routine optimisation, construct your curtains slightly wider and longer than the window frame itself to eliminate bright light halos around the edges.

Yes, our entire nursery collection is intentionally selected to handle the frequent laundering demands of a busy baby’s room. Most of our cotton prints, polycottons, and soft fleeces can be machine washed regularly on a standard 30°C or 40°C cycle using a gentle, non-biological detergent. However, because natural cotton fibres naturally shrink on their first wash, always pre-wash your fabric yardage before cutting out your pattern layouts.

For a standard UK cot mattress (typically 60cm x 120cm), you will need roughly 1.5 metres of a standard 140cm-wide fabric to comfortably cover the surface and allow enough depth for the wrap-around side pockets and an elasticated hem. If you are sewing a larger cot bed sheet (70cm x 140cm), we recommend sourcing 1.8 to 2 metres of yardage.
