For fluid movement or superhero outfits, choose high-stretch lycra, spandex, or lightweight satin. If you are crafting quick kids’ costumes, easy-to-sew options like anti-pill fleece and felt are highly recommended.

Carnival and festival costumes require high-impact visibility and comfort. We recommend breathable, flexible fabrics like our stretch foils, mesh, and sequin fabrics. Adding lightweight trims, feathers, and fringe is an easy way to build eye-catching volume without adding heavy weight to the garment.

Because costume materials often feature delicate finishes like foil, sequins, or faux fur, we recommend hand washing them in cool water with a mild detergent. Always air-dry your items flat; avoid tumble drying, as high heat can melt synthetic fibers, dull metallic foils, and ruin structural elements.

Simple cotton, fleece, or polyester costumes can usually handle a gentle, cold machine cycle. However, if your costume features embellishments, glue, boning, or metallic coatings, machine washing can cause tearing or peeling.
