Patterned T-shirting

Patterned t-shirting is a lightweight, flexible knit fabric—typically made from cotton, viscose, or cotton-elastane blends—that features printed designs such as florals, stripes, polka dots, or abstract motifs. It offers gentle stretch and breathable comfort, making it ideal for everyday tops and casual dresses.

To prevent puckering or skipped stitches on stretch t-shirting, use a fresh Ballpoint or Stretch sewing machine needle (size 70/10 or 80/12) and a narrow zig-zag or stretch stitch on your machine, or construct seams using an overlocker.

Because natural cotton knit fabrics can shrink slightly on their first wash (typically 3%–5%), we recommend pre-washing your patterned t-shirting fabric at 30°C before cutting out pattern pieces to ensure your finished garment retains its size and fit.

A Ballpoint (Jersey) needle is best for light-to-medium weight printed t-shirting. Its rounded tip slides between the knit loops without piercing or cutting the yarns, preserving both the fabric structure and the printed design.
