Festival Vibes Fabric

The best fabrics for festivals combine visual impact with comfort. Four-way stretch Lycra and Spandex are top choices for bodysuits and leggings because they allow you to dance freely. For layering pieces like kimonos and jackets, lightweight sheer mesh, dazzling sequins, and metallic foils are absolute must-haves for catching the light.

Sewing with sequins requires a little extra care, but it is definitely manageable! We recommend using a brand new, sharp needle (like a Microtex or Leather needle) and sewing slowly. If your fabric has very large sequins, you may need to carefully unpick the sequins from the seam allowance before stitching to prevent needle breakage and ensure a comfortable seam against your skin.

Festival fabrics like foils, holographics, and sequins can be delicate. To keep them looking vibrant, we highly recommend hand-washing them in cool water with a mild detergent. Never put metallic or sequin fabrics in the tumble dryer, as the heat can melt the synthetic fibres and dull the sparkly finish. Simply hang them up to air-dry.
